Honouring the Bondi and North Bondi’s joint Rescue
Across our coastline, Surf Life Saving Sydney continues to adapt and evolve in response to emerging challenges, embracing diversity and inclusion as central strengths. Our members not only save lives but also educate, connect, and protect our communities, by the community, for the community, and that is something we are deeply proud of.
Surf Life Saving Sydney respects and acknowledges the traditional custodians across all the lands on which we live, work and patrol, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. The outstanding rescues and first aid undertaken by our members each year go above and beyond routine duties, showcasing their exceptional lifesaving skills, training, and professionalism.
Each month Sydney Branch recognises one of the many terrific rescues undertaken as its ‘Rescue of the Month’. This recognises excellence in lifesaving and service delivery and is determined against industry best practice and operating procedures. It is not to encourage unnecessary risk, or neglect safety considerations and Standard Operating Procedures.
Through the ROTM award, SLS is increasing the recognition and promotion of our Lifesavers, Surf Clubs, Rescue Services and ALS lifeguards after an incident and increasing the number of worthy Meritorious Awards.
Nominations
To nominate a rescue from your Surf Club or Service, just fill in the SLSNSW link below. Sydney Branch will then review all submissions each month and circulate the winner. State will also select a winner from all nominations, not just from the respective Branch winners. The Branch winner will go into the running to win the Branch Rescue of the Year award at our Awards of Excellence.
Season winners 24-25
April 25
Congratulations to members of Bronte and Coogee who submitted nominations for April Rescue of the Month. Both rescues were outstanding and all members involved are to be commended.
The Sydney Branch Rescue of the Month for April 2025 is the Coogee SLSC rescue conducted on 13 April 2025.
March 25
Congratulations to Elouera 14/3/25, South Maroubra 30/3/25, Tamarama 15/3/25, and Bronte 26/3/25 members who were nominated by their clubs for ROM March 2025. All members involved in these rescues are to be commended for their efforts.
The Bronte rescue on 26/3/25 has been recognised as Branch Winner for month of March 2025.
February 25
Congratulations to members of Bondi and North Bondi who have been recognised as the Branch Rescue of the Month Winner February 2025.
This combined rescue incident took place on 15/2/2025 at 3pm across North Bondi to South Bondi in the water and on the sand. Well done to both clubs who worked together with other agencies to effect this situation successfully.
January 25
