Today our Duty Officers gathered at Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club for their Pre Season Briefing 2025/26
Surf Life Saving Sydney respects and acknowledges the traditional custodians across all the lands on which we live, work and patrol, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Background Image credit: 'Eora Dreaming' depicts the community of the fifteen Surf Life Saving Clubs throughout Sydney, stretching from North Bondi south to Burning Palms in the Royal National Park - Artist 'Billy Reynolds', proud Dharawal and Yuin man.
Our Duty Officers are highly experienced lifesavers who are trained and skilled in the coordination of responses to serious incidents – both during patrol hours and after-hours as required.
We have Duty Officers covering four key areas within Sydney Branch, being Waverley (North Bondi, Bondi, Tamarama + Bronte), Randwick (Clovelly, Coogee, Maroubra + South Maroubra), Sutherland (Wanda, Elouera, North Cronulla + Cronulla) and RNP (Garie, Era + Burning Palms). Plus their coverage includes areas outside of our Surf Club catchments, such as rock pools, unpatrolled beaches and fishing hotspots.
Our Duty Officers are proficient Bronze Medallion holders (Cert II Public Safety Aquatic Rescue) as well as being an ART and First Aid award holder. They’ve also obtained their Silver Medallion Beach Management Award (or the new Silver Medallion Patrol Captain Award). Plus we then provide further training to ensure they are job ready to respond to any issue.
