Rescue Services - SLS Sydney

SLS Sydney’s Rescue Services Group provides assistance when needed, both on and off the beach.

The Rescue Services Group coordinates services such as our Offshore Rescue Boat, Rescue Water Craft and Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle Pilots as well as our Duty Officers. We’re always welcoming new members and would love to have you join our team. There’s plenty of roles suitable to everyone.

Duty Officers

Our Duty Officers are highly experienced lifesavers who are trained and skilled in the coordination of responses to serious incidents – both during patrol hours and after-hours as required.

Rescue Water Craft

The Sydney Branch Rescue Water Craft (RWC) group have the responsibility of supporting our clubs as well as patrolling un-patrolled locations. This includes supporting carnivals and aquatic events to assisting in rescue incidents as and when required.

Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles

The Australian Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle Service (AUAVS) is an operational unit of Surf Life Saving Services Pty Ltd (SLSS) providing the largest coastal UAV (drone) surveillance program in the Southern Hemisphere operating UAVs for a range of public safety uses.

Sydney beaches and coastline from Botany to Bondi are patrolled by Surf Rescue 30’s offshore rescue boat from its Malabar base.
