SLS Sydney elevates Andrew McKellar ESM to Life Membership - SLS Sydney

Surf Life Saving Sydney is proud to congratulate Andrew McKellar ESM of Elouera SLSC on being elevated to Life Membership

Life Membership is the highest honour awarded by Surf Life Saving Sydney Branch. Andrew has given more than four decades of dedicated service to surf lifesaving, earning his Bronze Medallion at Elouera in 1983 and going on to become one of Sydney’s most respected Rescue Water Craft operators and coordinators. As SLS Sydney’s RWC Coordinator from 2017 to 2024, he grew the Branch’s RWC operations from two to five services, trained a cohort of 100 operators, and pioneered innovations including GPS tracking and PLB setups that have since been adopted across NSW and nationally.

Andrew’s contribution goes far beyond the water. He has maintained 100% patrol attendance for over 19 years, responded to statewide fire and flood emergencies, and served in leadership roles at both club and Branch level throughout his career. He holds an Emergency Services Medal (ESM) for his services to lifesaving, alongside a National Medal, NSW Premier’s Bushfire Emergency Citation, and numerous Branch and club awards. This Life Membership is a fitting recognition of an extraordinary volunteer who has quietly and consistently gone above and beyond for his community, his club, and the surf lifesaving movement.
